FAQ

Frequently asked

How do I add GST to a price?+

Tap 'Add GST', enter your net amount and pick the slab. Example: ₹10,000 at 18% GST → gross ₹11,800 (net ₹10,000 + GST ₹1,800).

How do I remove GST from a gross amount?+

Tap 'Remove GST' and enter the gross (invoice) amount. The calculator uses net = gross / (1 + rate) to reverse-calculate. Example: ₹11,800 at 18% GST → net ₹10,000 + GST ₹1,800.

What's the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?+

For intra-state supply (buyer and seller in the same state), GST is split equally between CGST (Central) and SGST (State). For inter-state supply, the full amount is IGST (Integrated GST) collected by the Centre and distributed. Union Territories use UTGST instead of SGST.

Which items fall under which GST slab?+

0% — essential food grains, milk, etc. 5% — mass consumption (edible oil, tea, coffee, some medicines). 12% — computers, processed food. 18% — most services, electronics, restaurants. 28% — luxury items, tobacco, aerated drinks, high-end cars.

Is this GST calculator accurate for GST returns?+

Yes for the arithmetic. For filing GSTR-1, GSTR-3B or GST audit, always cross-check against your invoice ledger and reconcile with e-invoicing / e-way bills as required.

Does this store my data?+

No — everything runs in your browser. Your amounts are never uploaded.
