How PPF / NSC Calculator works
PPF: annual contributions up to ₹1.5L, 15-year lock-in, tax-free interest, EEE status. NSC: one-time deposit, 5-year lock-in, interest compounds annually and taxable but reinvested.
For PPF — yearly deposit, duration, current rate (default 7.1%). For NSC — one-time deposit, tenure (5 yrs), current rate (default 7.7%).

NSC (VIII Issue) rate for Q4 FY 2025-26 is 7.7%. Compounded annually but paid at maturity.
PPF vs NSC — which is better?+
PPF has 15-year lock-in but tax-free returns (EEE — Exempt at investment, growth and withdrawal). NSC has 5-year lock-in; interest is taxable but qualifies for 80C reinvestment for the first 4 years. PPF for long horizon; NSC for medium term.
Is PPF investment tax-deductible?+
Yes — up to ₹1.5L / year under Section 80C. Interest and maturity are also tax-free (EEE status).
