What's the current PPF interest rate?+

PPF interest rate for Q4 FY 2025-26 (Jan-Mar 2026) is 7.1%. It's revised quarterly by the Ministry of Finance.

What's the current NSC interest rate?+

NSC (VIII Issue) rate for Q4 FY 2025-26 is 7.7%. Compounded annually but paid at maturity.

PPF vs NSC — which is better?+

PPF has 15-year lock-in but tax-free returns (EEE — Exempt at investment, growth and withdrawal). NSC has 5-year lock-in; interest is taxable but qualifies for 80C reinvestment for the first 4 years. PPF for long horizon; NSC for medium term.

Is PPF investment tax-deductible?+

Yes — up to ₹1.5L / year under Section 80C. Interest and maturity are also tax-free (EEE status).

Can I invest more than ₹1.5L in PPF?+

No — the annual cap is ₹1,50,000 (across all PPF accounts you hold). This calculator auto-caps the yearly contribution accordingly.
