How is this different from a normal resize?+
Bilinear/bicubic resizes stretch pixels; the result is blurry. Real-ESRGAN is a deep-learning super-resolution model that reconstructs missing detail — text stays sharp, edges stay crisp, and denoise + sharpen are baked in.
Is my image uploaded?+
Yes — Real-ESRGAN needs a GPU, so the image is sent to fal.ai via our backend, processed and discarded. We only log byte counts and elapsed ms for credit metering.
What's the file-size limit?+
8 MB request cap on our side. For very high-res photos, resize to under 4000×4000 before uploading — the 4× / 8× upscale will still exceed 12000×12000 which is enough for print.
